Sync & offline

The mobile app's offline copy and auto-sync preferences, stored with your account — plus a device sync history you can audit.

PulsVault keeps your vault consistent across every device you use. The Sync & offline page (App settings → Sync & Offline) holds two preferences for the PulsVault mobile app, plus a searchable device sync history so you can see which devices have synced and when.

Mobile app preferences#

These two switches are stored with your account and applied by the mobile app. The web console always works online: it keeps no offline copy, and every change you save in it is sent right away, whatever these are set to.

Setting Default What it does in the mobile app
Offline access On Keeps an encrypted copy of your vault on the phone, so it stays available without a connection. Turning it off deletes that copy, along with any offline changes not yet sent.
Auto-sync on changes On When the phone reconnects, sends the changes you made offline and fetches new ones without waiting for you to sync. Needs Offline access.
  1. Toggle Offline access and Auto-sync on changes to your preference.
  2. Choose Save preferences. PulsVault confirms with a success message once the settings are stored to your account.
  3. The mobile app applies them the next time you open its Sync & offline screen. You can also change them there directly.
Offline copies are kept encrypted

The phone keeps your vault as ciphertext, not plaintext — the same encrypted data the server holds, decrypted only in memory after you unlock. An unlock is still required to read anything; see How PulsVault works.

When to turn Auto-sync off

Leave Auto-sync on for the usual case. Turning it off is mainly useful on a metered or unreliable connection, where you would rather sync by hand from the mobile app.

Device sync history#

Below the preferences, Device sync history is an audit log of your trusted devices synchronizing with your vault. Each row records:

Column Meaning
Device ID The device that synced.
IP address Where the sync came from.
User agent The browser/app that performed the sync.
Items synced How many items were synchronized in that event.
Time When the sync happened.

You can search by device ID and page through the history. Use it as a quick sanity check that only devices you recognize are syncing — if something looks off, review your trusted devices and active sessions.

Troubleshooting#

Symptom Cause & fix
Changes aren't showing on your phone The phone has not synced since the change. With Auto-sync on changes on it syncs when it reconnects; otherwise sync by hand in the mobile app. Check its row in the history.
Mobile app unavailable with no connection Offline access must be on for the phone to keep a usable copy; turn it on and connect once so the copy can be made.
An unfamiliar device in the history Review and revoke it under Devices, then rotate anything sensitive.
Preferences didn't stick Toggle again and choose Save preferences; wait for the success confirmation.
  • Devices — manage the devices linked to your account and how device trust works
  • Active sessions — review and end active sessions
