Usage & limits

Track your PulsVault usage against your plan — vaults, storage, users, and active shares — how each meter is measured, what "Unlimited" means, and what happens as you approach a cap.

The Usage & Limits page shows, at a glance, how much of your plan you're actually using. Every plan comes with a set of ceilings — how many vaults you can create, how much file storage you get, how many people can be on the account, and how many active shares you can have open. This page reads those numbers live from your subscription and compares them to what you're using right now.

Open it under Billing → Usage & Limits.

What's measured#

The page tracks four independent meters. Each shows your current usage over your plan's limit for that resource:

Meter Counts Limit comes from
Vaults Every vault you own, including your primary vault Your plan's vault allowance
Storage The encrypted file attachments across your vaults Your plan's storage allowance (in GB)
Users People with a seat on the account (yourself plus members) Your plan's member/seat count
Active shares Vault shares that are currently live (not revoked) Your plan's active-share ceiling

The Vaults meter is highlighted as a circular gauge so you can see at a glance how close you are; the other three appear as horizontal progress bars underneath.

Storage is shown in friendly units

Small uploads still register. Below 1 MB the page shows kilobytes, below 1 GB it shows megabytes, and above that it switches to gigabytes — so you can watch a handful of attachments add up rather than staring at 0.00 GB.

What "Unlimited" means#

Some limits on higher plans have no cap. When a resource is uncapped, the page shows the infinity symbol ∞ (or the word Unlimited) instead of a percentage, and the meter stays flat rather than filling up — there's nothing to fill toward. For example, Active vault shares are capped at 3 on Free and 20 on Premium, but are unlimited from Family upward. See Plan comparison & limits for the full grid.

How your limits compare across plans#

The exact ceilings depend on your plan. A few reference points from the plan comparison:

Resource Free Premium Solo Pro Family Team Business Enterprise
Members / seats 1 1 1 up to 6 2–10 3–500 from 25, no cap
Storage 512 MB 5 GB 20 GB 5 GB for the whole family 10 GB per seat 25 GB per seat Unlimited
Additional vaults — ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓ ✓
Active vault shares 3 20 20 ∞ ∞ ∞ ∞
Trusted devices 5 5 5 10 15 25 Unlimited

On Team and Business, storage is per seat times the seats you pay for: a Team organization with 5 paid seats has a 50 GB pool shared by everyone. Family is a flat-rate plan, so its 5 GB is one pool for the whole household, however many members it has. Enterprise is not on sale yet — it currently shows as Coming soon in the plan selector.

The Usage & Limits page always shows your own plan's exact figures.

Admins can tighten limits further

On Team, Business, and Enterprise, an administrator may set policies that are stricter than the plan ceiling. The numbers on this page are your plan's maximums, not a promise that organization settings are looser.

As you approach a limit#

Nothing is deleted when a meter fills up — you simply can't add more of that resource until you free some up or raise the ceiling. Practically:

  • Out of vaults? Delete a vault you no longer need, or upgrade to a plan with a higher allowance.
  • Out of storage? Remove large file attachments, or upgrade.
  • Out of seats? See Seat management to add seats, or remove a member who no longer needs access.
  • Out of active shares? Revoke a share you no longer use — a revoked share frees the slot immediately. See Share a vault.

To raise a ceiling, change your plan under Billing → Subscription; see Plans & subscription.

Troubleshooting#

Symptom Cause & fix
"Usage data unavailable" or "Could not load plan limits" The usage figures couldn't be fetched. Refresh the page; if it persists, check your connection or try again shortly.
Storage looks higher than the files I remember Attachments are stored encrypted and counted across every vault you own, including shared ones you own. Review each vault's attachments.
A meter shows ∞ but I expected a number That resource is unlimited on your plan — there's no cap to measure against.
Users count is higher than the people I invited The count includes you (the account owner) plus every member who holds a seat.
