Notifications

What PulsVault notifies you about, where notifications appear, and how to tune alert categories and channels in Notification Preferences.

PulsVault keeps you informed about the things that matter in a secrets manager: security events on your account, sharing activity in your vaults, and task assignments. Notifications are delivered live in the app and, for critical events, by email — and you control the categories from one preferences page.

What you're notified about#

Category Examples
Security New device sign-in, device approval requests, an untrusted mobile signing in while a trusted phone is linked
Sharing A vault or item shared with you, access revoked, role changed, invitations sent/accepted/declined
Activity Item updates and reveals in shared vaults, vault settings changes
Account Sign-up and account lifecycle events
Tasks Task created, assigned, commented, status changed, due soon, overdue

Account-lifecycle email (address verification, password reset, one-time codes, trial and billing reminders, account lock) is always sent — it isn't governed by these preferences.

Where notifications appear#

  • The bell — the header bell shows a pulsing dot when you have unread notifications and lists the most recent ones. Notifications arrive live over a persistent connection, so device-approval prompts and task updates appear without a refresh. Click an item to mark it read and jump to the related page.
  • The notifications page — View All Notifications in the bell dropdown opens the full list, filterable by All Notifications, Unread Only, or Read Only and searchable by title. Per row you can Mark as Read, View Details, or Delete; select multiple rows to Mark Selected as Read. At the top of the page, Mark All as Read clears every unread notification in one step, and Clear All deletes your entire inbox. Clear All asks twice because deletion is permanent: the first click turns the button red and changes its label to Delete all forever?; click it again to confirm. If you wait a few seconds the button resets and nothing is deleted. The bell's dropdown has its own Mark all read.
  • Email — critical security alerts are always sent to your primary email address.

Change your notification preferences#

  1. Open Account → Notifications (the Notification Preferences page).
  2. Use All Notifications as the master switch for every alert.
  3. Under Email & Push, choose your channels: Email Notifications, SMS Notifications, Browser Notifications.
  4. Tune the category cards — Security Alerts, Breach Alerts (leaked, weak, and reused password alerts), Sharing, and Tasks. A category's master switch disables its sub-toggles.
  5. If you can read your organization's security report, an Organization reports card also appears. Switch off Weekly security digest to stop your own copy of the Monday email.
  6. Click Save Changes — nothing is applied until you save.

Preferences are stored on your account, so they follow you across devices.

Security alerts can't be switched off

General Security Alerts (new logins, password changes, suspicious activity) are always on. Critical security alerts cannot be disabled and will always be sent to your primary email — deliberately, so a compromised account can't silence its own alarms.

Rolling out

The Tasks notification card is marked Coming soon — its toggles are saved but task alert delivery is still being enabled. Some channel toggles (such as SMS) are likewise stored ahead of the channel going live.

The weekly security digest#

If you can read your organization's security report, your organization may send you its weekly security digest every Monday. Switching Weekly security digest off stops your copy and nobody else's. It is also off while Email Notifications or All Notifications is off. Only an administrator can turn the digest off for the whole organization.
