Search
Find vaults, items, and notes with global search (⌘K) and narrow a vault's item list with filters and sorting.
PulsVault has three search surfaces: a global search in the header, a per-vault item filter, and a search/sort bar on the Vaults page. A fourth place to browse, not search, is the cross-vault All items list.
Global search (⌘K)#
The header search box finds things across your whole account:
- Press ⌘K (macOS) / Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux), or click the search box ("Search or type command...").
- Type at least a couple of characters — results appear as you type.
- Results are grouped into Vaults, Items, and Notes; use the All / Vaults / Items / Notes tabs to narrow them.
- Pick a result to jump straight to it, or press Esc to close.
Your five most recent searches are kept on this device for quick re-runs.
Search matches vault names and item/note titles only. Secret fields — passwords, card numbers — and note bodies are encrypted end-to-end and are never indexed or searchable by the server. Vault names and item titles are not end-to-end encrypted (what is and isn't encrypted). If your vault is locked, the search box reads "Unlock vault to search..." and ⌘K opens the unlock prompt instead.
Filter items inside a vault#
The item list in each vault has its own search and filters:
- Search — matches item titles as you type.
- Type — show only one item type (Login, Credit card, SSH key…).
- Status — Active, Deleted, or All; Deleted shows items in the trash.
- Folder — click a folder in the sidebar to scope the list; see Folders & favorites.
Items are listed newest first; sortable columns (Title, Type, Updated) let you reorder. Your search and filter choices are kept while you navigate into an item and back.
Find a vault#
On the Vaults page, use the Search vaults... box together with the sort menu: Last accessed (default), Name A-Z, Recently created, or Most items — plus the All / Favorites / Shared / Archived tabs. Those tabs filter vaults. To list items across every vault, with their own All / Favorites / Recent views, use All items.
