Account overview
What lives under Account — identity, sign-in and recovery, devices and sessions, preferences, and deleting your account — and how it differs from My security.
Account is where you configure yourself: who you are, how you sign in, how you get back in, which devices and sessions have access, and what PulsVault tells you about. Everything here has a save button.
One rule for finding things#
There are two account-shaped areas in the console, and one sentence separates them:
If it has a save button, it's Account. If it has a number, it's My security.
My security measures — a security score, weak password counts, breach exposure, an activity trail. It does not change settings. When it tells you to turn on two-factor authentication, the link it hands you lands here.
What's in each group#
The Account sidebar groups pages by what they are for, not by which team built them.
| Group | Page | For |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Profile | Display name, photo, and the sign-in email |
| Sign-in & Recovery | Master password | Rotate the password you sign in with |
| Two-factor authentication | TOTP setup, backup codes, turning it off | |
| Recovery & Emergency Kit | Recovery email, identification code, Access Key recovery | |
| Devices & Sessions | Devices | Link a phone, choose how long trust lasts, revoke a device |
| Active sessions | See where you're signed in and end anything you don't recognize | |
| Preferences | Notifications | What you're told about, and how |
| Preferences (Language & Appearance in the sidebar) | Language, sign-out timeout, timezone, date format, theme | |
| Organization | My Organization | Your role, access, teams and membership history in your organization |
| Security & compliance | What your organization requires of you and what its administrators can see | |
| Danger Zone | Delete account | Permanently remove your account |
Some entries only appear when they apply:
- Organization appears when your account is on an organization plan.
- Devices is hidden for an account that has no vault.
- Delete Account is hidden for platform administrators and for members of an organization, whose accounts end with the organization or when an administrator removes them.
Family members also get a My family entry — their view of the family they belong to, and where they leave it. Family organizers reach the same family through Family Settings instead, so nobody sees it twice.
Account settings are not vault settings#
A near neighbour worth separating. Account is about you; App Settings is about the vault application — the password generator, import/export, sync, backups and cloud storage. If you are looking for the password generator's default length, it lives under App settings, not here. How long you stay signed in is the exception: it is a personal choice, so Sign me out after is in Preferences.
Devices and sessions answer different questions#
These sit side by side because people reach for the wrong one:
- Devices — what can decrypt? Trust lets a device unlock your vault. Revoking it takes that ability away.
- Active sessions — who is signed in? Revoking a session signs a device out; it does not remove that device's trust.
Ending a session on a stolen laptop does not stop it unlocking your vault next time. Revoke the device too.
