Profile

Manage your PulsVault profile — display name, profile photo, and the login email you can't change here.

Your Profile is where you manage the personal details attached to your PulsVault account: the name and photo other people see, and a backup email address. None of these are secrets — they're account metadata, kept separate from the encrypted vaults where your passwords and other items live. Open it from Account → Profile.

What you can edit#

Only a few fields are editable, and each one has a clear purpose.

Field Editable Notes
Email address No Shown read-only. It's your sign-in identity and can't be changed here.
Full name Yes Your display name. Required, 3–100 characters. Read-only if your organization manages your account: the field then says "Your name is set by your organization. Ask an administrator if it needs correcting."
Profile photo Yes An avatar image. PNG, JPEG, or GIF, up to 2 MB.

Looking for your recovery email? It moved to Recovery & Emergency Kit, next to the identification code and Access Key recovery — the other things you reach for when you are locked out. It was never a profile detail.

Make your changes and choose Save Changes to persist them. Your full name and photo also sync to the app's top navigation bar so the rest of the console reflects the update immediately.

Changing your profile photo#

  1. Hover the avatar and click Change Photo.
  2. Pick a PNG, JPEG, or GIF file no larger than 2 MB. Larger files are rejected with a size error before anything uploads.
  3. A local preview appears right away while the upload runs; when it finishes you'll see a Photo updated confirmation.

If an upload fails, the avatar reverts to your previous photo (or the default) so you're never left with a half-applied change.

Why your email can't be changed here#

Your email is more than a contact address — it's woven into how your keys are derived on your device, so it's fixed on the profile page and displayed read-only. If you genuinely need a different sign-in address, that's an account-level operation handled through support rather than a profile edit.

What the server stores#

Profile data is not vault data

Your name and photo are account metadata, stored separately from the encrypted contents of your vaults. Editing your profile never touches your keys or your items — and the zero-knowledge boundary around your secrets is unchanged. See the zero-knowledge model.
